Living Loop Lab
A 6,000+ Mile Science Expedition Where Youth Lead the Way!
The Living Loop Lab
The Living Loop Lab is a floating classroom and mobile research station traveling over 6,000 miles along America’s Great Loop—a waterway route that winds through 18 states and parts of Canada.
On Board
Microscopes, testing equipment, cameras, field kits—and a crew committed to science with purpose.
At Every Port
Real-world learning, citizen science, and storytelling that empowers the next generation of environmental leaders

The Route
From the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes and back again, we’ll travel a continuous loop through estuaries, rivers, canals, and inland waterways.
Along the way, we’ll focus on research and engaging youth in the science of it all.

The Boat: A Floating Lab & Classroom
Outfitted with lab stations, sample analysis tools, and media equipment, our vessel isn’t just transportation—it’s transformation. Youth will:
Collect watersamples & ecoloigcal data
Observe, document, & share stories through media logs
Engage in guided exploration with onboard educators and scientists
Collaborate with local experts and organizations
Dockside Learning & Youth Engagement
At every port, the Living Loop Lab becomes a launchpad for discovery

Why It Matters
This isn’t a science cruise.
It’s a mission.
By linking agriculture to ocean health, and data to personal story, the Living Loop Lab equips students to become the scientists, storytellers, and stewards our world needs.
We’re building a new model for environmental learning:
- Rooted in place
- Led by youth
- Grounded in real impact
Want to Join Us Along the Way?
We’re looking for:
Dockside partners (schools, libraries, community centers)
Youth-serving organizations
Local scientists, artists, and storytellers
Volunteers, donors, and educators
Let’s make every port a platform for change.
